After a long gap, the Scotch connoisseurs of Delhi got a much sought after opportunity to drink two icons of Scotch whisky – Dalmore and Jura – and also the highly renowned blended Scotch, John Barr from the famed Whyte & Mackay stable. The event was organised by VBev, a dynamic company engaged in the import, marketing, sales and distribution of international wines, spirits and beer in India.

These award winning heady expressions generated huge interest among the assembled guests at Pling, Pullman New Delhi Aerocity. Starting off with whisky sours to refresh themselves after a harrowing ordeal of driving through Delhi roads at peak evening time, the guests were seen eager to taste these fascinating whiskies and soak in into their aroma & flavours.

Sumedh Singh Mandla, CEO, VBev, welcomed the guests and Stephen Martin, single malt specialist, gave a lowdown of Whyte & Mackay’s distillery and about the single malt whiskies on display. He said that the Dalmore, established in 1839, is a true jewel among the Highland Single Malts. Finished in bourbon and in a variety of González Byass Sherry casks, they have produced truly iconic, ground-breaking expressions, which have set the standard in Highland Single Malt Whisky. The various awards for Dalmore are testament to its high quality.

The nose and palate of this Andrew Mackenzie’s original masterpiece (Dalmore 12) is indeed a whisky far beyond its age. It is complex yet balanced and truly is the epitome of the Dalmore house style. It hints of citrus fruit, chocolate and aromatic spices on the nose and on the palate it feels of concentrated citrus, Oloroso sherry and hints of vanilla pod with roasted coffee & chocolate.

Jura 10 year old’s distinctive taste comes from blending peated and unpeated whisky and using the best barrels sourced from around the world to age the whisky. Jura 10YO has also won multiple awards. It gives a nose of fruit, cracked pepper and dark chocolate, and on the palate, there is dominant feel of nectarines, ginger and freshly ground coffee.
