There is a level playing field for both men and women these days, feels Tanya Puneet, Brand Manager – Single Malt Portfolio, Pernod Ricard India

Tanya Puneet gets her creative streak from her mother, who happens to be a versatile actor from Bollywood, and she ascribes her business agility to her father. Both academically and culturally speaking, her experiences have been very stimulating including captaining the Delhi basketball team and being a trained dancer to boot. During the course of her work experience, Tanya has led many luxury and fashion lifestyle experiential projects, therefore Pernod Ricard which has some of the most desirous brands, was a natural fit for her. Recalling her first job, she shares: “My first job was at Saatchi & Saatchi, Delhi as a Client Servicing Executive. I was managing some of the top FMCG brands. As a brand custodian, I was exposed to a holistic view of the creative world and gathered an in-depth understanding of building global brands.” When her parents heard that she was joining Pernod Ricard, they were ecstatic. They teasingly asked: ‘Will there be an unlimited supply of The Glenlivet?’ “They were quite excited,” she recollects with a laugh.

Brand Management

She says that while growing up she watched her dad collect the limited-edition Absolut vodka. “As a young girl I had the desire to work for two creative and premium brands – Absolut & Mini. The most empowering moments in my career were when I set my desk at Pernod Ricard to manage Absolut Elyx, Royal Salute & Martell, as a part of my first assignment. Be a Dreamer, Be a Believer, is what I thought at that point in time,” Tanya proffers. Tanya is presently responsible for envisaging and building brand strategies in India for some of the finest single malts – The Glenlivet, Aberlour, Scapa & Longmorn. Her job also includes leading category growth with the market leader – The Glenlivet by devising TTL communication, experiential evenings, digital marketing and by keeping an eye towards maintaining business profitability. “One of the key values promoted by Pernod Ricard group is entrepreneurial spirit. The group is committed to empowering individuals and I am a true example of the same; leading one of the most envious single malt portfolio in the country,” says Tanya while talking about the opportunities & growth in her current job. She says developing and launching the new – The Glenlivet Campaign has been her true definitive moment.

Not A Man’s World

Surprisingly, Tanya was never told that it was a man’s world. “From my experience, I can say that Pernod Ricard has a diverse culture and strongly advocates gender equality. I have seen equal opportunities for growth for both men and women in this industry,” Tanya informs. Her mantra for success is “being unrelenting, passionate, confident and a go-getter will take you
miles ahead”.
