Now Sweden has a beer from recycled sewage water. The experts at IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute have passed the recycled sewage water through delicate membranes and cleaning processes which include reverse osmosis to arrive at this unique beer. The renowned beer producer Carlsberg and New Carnegie Brewery are also part of this scientific endeavour whose success now can remove mental blocks about consuming recycled water among multitudes.

The recycled water beer is named PU: REST, which was launched in May of this year. Its popularity is being reflected by its sales, which is 6000 litres so far, according to an expert from IVL named Rupali Deshmukh. She also informed that the recycled sewage water was so clean that they had to add salt to it for the beer making process.
