As pubs, bars and restaurants across the Czech Republic now being shut down due to the spread of COVID-19, brewers across the country are now increasing production of beer in cans and bottles rather than in kegs. The brewers in the Czech Republic have also warned that all the currently kegged beer in the country needs to be drunk “within weeks” to prevent them from spoiling.

Like several other countries around the world, the Czech on-trade had to close down temporarily to prevent the spread of Coronavirus but for beer business of the country it entails that over a million pints that were due to be delivered both nationally and internationally have not been delivered. All that fresh beer needs to be drunk within weeks or they will go to waste.

Here it deserves a mention that Czechs are the biggest beer drinkers in Europe. The country consumes 141 litres of beer per person annually, on an average.
