Incorporated in the year 2015, Unibev already has a bouquet of brands in the premium IMFL space. As of now, they have floated four brands of whiskies and one of brandy in the market; and rum and vodka brands are in the pipeline.

A part from moving up the value chain, the objective of starting premium spirits range for Unibev is because they are being patronised and consumed more and more in today’s India as demonstrated by the growth curve of this category, according to Vijay Rekhi, Executive Director, Unibev.

The background of starting this business enterprise with Globus Spirits Limited as a holding company was for Globus to move up the value chain. For this purpose, Unibev was incorporated as a premium products subsidiary. The funding for Unibev was planned from internal resources of Globus and this has been the case ever since.

So far, Unibev’s products are available in 10 states of the country and the company would be scaling up its presence in five more states of India by the end of the excise year 2020. Unibev is confident to achieve the target of introducing its premium spirits in 15 states and the attainment of market share; its gross contribution has also been as per expectation. Rekhi & his team are expected to continue northward trajectory.

Since Unibev is still in the ‘launch mode’ for its product portfolio, the effect of economic slowdown has not been discernable for the company as all new distributors welcomed a breath of fresh air in terms of the company’s product offering with a USP to packaging and the liquid inside the bottle.
