On 8 th May, Johnnie Walker’s plans to construct a multi-million pound sensory whisky experience in the centre of Edinburgh, Scotland have got the go ahead from The City of Edinburgh Council Planning Committee. The ‘Johnnie Walker Experience’ will be situated within the former House of Fraser department store on Prince’s Street. It will be a three-storied space where the globally renowned blended Scotch’s 200-year-old rich history and whisky making would be explored.

The space will also include a room for hosting music performance, theatre and arts, and a street-level whisky store inspired by the new Johnnie Walker flagship shop in Madrid, and a rooftop bar with majestic views of Edinburgh Castle.

Besides these, the building will also have a hospitality academy. The attraction is expected to generate employment for approximately 180 people and is expected to boost tourism revenues in Edinburgh. Construction work for the project will begin in early summer. The Johnnie Walker Experience constitutes an integral part of Diageo’s endeavours towards Scotch whisky tourism, which entails £150 million investment.
