Kingsbarns releases 2YO spirit drink

  • PublishedJuly 18, 2017

Kingsbarns distillery has released a two-year-old ‘spirit drink’ bottling, only available to buy from the distillery, as it waits for its whisky to mature.

The spirit, which cannot legally be called whisky as it has not been matured for the mandatory three years, comes from a vatting of two first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, bottled non-chill-filtered at its natural cask strength of 62.8% abv.

Priced at £19.95 for a 200ml bottle, only 1,800 bottles have been released, and can be bought at the Kingsbarns distillery and visitor centre, although they will also be available to Kingsbarns’ Founders’ Club members via mail order. Purchases are limited to one bottle per person.

The release follows the launch of Kingsbarns’ new make ‘spirit drink’ in August 2015. The distillery’s first bottling of Single Malt whisky, due in 2018, will be reserved for members of the Founders’ Club.

Haig Club Bar opens its doors

Haig Club, the grain whisky endorsed by David Beckham, has opened its first permanent bar in the UK, above the streets of Birmingham.

Haig Club Bar is located on Level 25 of The Cube and sits beside the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill Birmingham. With room to seat 36, the venue is decorated in Haig Club’s blue and copper colours.

The menu offers more than 20 whisky cocktails, designed by bartender Jack Spencer and made using Haig Club and Haig Club Clubman, as well as small plates and sharing dishes.

Customers can also purchase their own bottle of Haig Club for £200, which will be marked with a special tag so they can drink from it every time they visit the bar.
