Reliving the Magic of Wines at Sula

Reliving the Magic of Wines at Sula

While standing in the balcony of the expansive ‘Dindori’ suite at The Source, I seeped in the quiet beauty of the rainloved greens all around. The mesmerising silence of gentle Gangapur lake waters in the backdrop of rolling hills, the sweet intoxicating fragrance wafting from nearby Sauvignon Blanc grape trees filled my senses with an uncommon serenity. While sipping a nicely chilled Dindori Reserve Chardonnay, I realised that life can actually be so fascinatingly romantic & calming at some places on this earth. Welcome to India’s first heritage winery resort, which is fast changing the perspective of wine tourism in India.

Rain has just stopped; clouds still hover, gentle breeze caresses my senses. I pause and ponder that thousands and thousands of fun-loving people gather at the Sula Fest each year for music, wine, gourmet food, fashion and much more but how many of them have time to actually enjoy the serene beauty of the country’s first heritage vineyard resort? Believe me, the real charm of the wine resort lies in imbibing its soul in its quiet surroundings.

As I moved on to explore the resort, I met some interesting and working professionals like the Chief Wine Maker, Neil Fernandes and Monit Dhavale, Senior Vice President Hospitality, who enriched me with relevant and substantive details about Sula’s wines & resort.

The Source At Sula, I am told, was built in Tuscan style and comprises 31 well-laid out rooms. There are seven categories of rooms which include Tower View Suite, a two-storied luxurious structure with a fascinating view of the vineyards. Then comes the Vineyard View suites and rooms, followed by the Garden View Room, CourtyardView Room, Pool View Room, and Tree Houses. These comprehensive accommodation options range from 258 sq.ft. to 558 sq.ft. in size.

The Source At Sula came into being in 2017. The resort is so named because Sula’s old winery was located here, which has now been shifted to Dindori, some 50 km away. Those staying here (including walk-in guests) are given the winery tour with the tasting of select Sula wines by efficiently trained staff. Connoisseurs can also relish a variety of delectable food at three distinctively different restaurants of the resort at the premise.
