Selecting the ‘Best Bars’ of 2019
Pockets of life in the national capital region glide into partying mode as the Sun sets, and the twilight sets in. Many watering holes and drinking hotspots come into life. Be it Gurgaon, the new hot spot of Aerocity, Connaught Place, the South Delhi with its sizeable share of affluent population or the fast upcoming night life scenes in Noida, new and old bars vie for discerning consumers’ attention in Delhi-NCR.
A jury of distinguished professionals who have rich and varied experience in different branches of hospitality ( hotels, bars, mixology, etc.) were requested to come on board to impartially judge scores of nominations for Spiritz’s coveted ‘Best Bar Awards’ of 2019.
Spiritz received a huge number of nominations for awards but some two
dozen bars were selected after the first round of scrutiny for personal visits by the jury team.
The awards are to be given in three distinct categories – bars in star hotels,
stand-alone bars and microbreweries.
Different teams (sometimes comprising two, sometimes three members) spent about two weeks visiting all the selected bars and microbrewery in Delhi-NCR, and one microbrewery in Chandigarh to judge for themselves these outlets on the parameters of ambience, bar inventory, service & presentation, food quality & portion size, etc. The microbreweries were also judged on the quality of their beer brews and choices of different styles.
It was not an easy task even for these seasoned professionals as every bar, be it in a star property or in a stand-alone restaurant, displayed excellence in both food & beverages department. There were some dark horses, who gave stiff competition to some well-entrenched, high profile outlets. The team met seasoned F&B Managers, Bar Managers, mixologists and Chefs at the nominated places; sat down with them to understand the ethos of their outlet, their innovation in food & experimentations in cocktails.
